About the conference
The Renewable Energy for Sustainable Growth (RE4SG) Conference and Exhibition has grown into a pivotal platform for promoting renewable energy solutions in Africa. Following the success of four previous editions (2017, 2018, 2019, and 2024) held in Kigali, Rwanda, this 5th edition is poised to achieve greater impact. The previous conferences catalyzed investments, informed policy development, advanced renewable energy technologies, Green Transport, Access to clean cooking, climate finance and carbon credits, gender inclusivity in energy transition facilitated knowledge sharing, and strengthened collaborations among stakeholders.

Dr. Jimmy Gasore
Minister of Infrastructure
Dr. Jimmy Gasore is the Minister of Infrastructure. Prior to his appointment,
Dr. Gasore served as Project Manager at REMA and led the establishment of
the first and only ambient air quality monitoring system in Rwanda that monitors
and reports air quality levels in real-time between 2017 and 2021.
Dr. Gasore holds a Ph.D. degree in Atmospheric Sciences from Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) and is a former lecturer at the University of Rwanda.
Since 2013, Dr. Gasore has led the establishment of the Rwanda Climate Observatory; a
comprehensive field station that monitors atmospheric composition related to climate change,
air pollution, and ozone depletion—the first and only one of its kind on the African continent.
Dr. Gasore contributed to various studies, consultancies,
and reports that form the bulk of knowledge on ambient air quality in Rwanda and has
made significant contributions to the understanding of air quality in Africa.
He has served on various national and international expert panels and technical committees.

Nasho Solar-powered irrigation Project
Thursday, 12 March 2020 - President Kagame on Thursday inaugurated the Nasho Solar-powered Irrigation Project that includes pivot irrigation systems serving 2099 small scale farmers, with a capacity of 3.3 megawatts to power the irrigation system, with 2.4 MW battery storage and a model village of 144 houses.

Gas Methane Power Plant in Rubavu District now supplying 50 Megawatts of electricity to the grid
Shema Power Lake Kivu (SPLK), is a Gas Methane Power Plant that produces electricity from methane gas in Lake Kivu, the construction work of this plant has been completed, it was built by a British company called Shema Power Lake Kivu Ltd (SPLK), and it is located in Busoro Cell, Nyamyumba Sector, Rubavu District.
