CHARLES DAKALIRA is the Programmes Coordinator at the Renewable Energy Industries Association of Malawi (REIAMA), where he leads initiatives in renewable energy advocacy, policy review, and stakeholder engagement, including the organization of the National Energy Conference and sector-wide workshops. He works closely with partners such as the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA), GIZ, the Government of Scotland through the University of Strathclyde, the Ministry of Energy – Malawi, UNDP, and the German Solar Association. Before joining REIAMA in 2023, Charles served as Programmes Officer at Kumudzi Kuwale Limited, implementing renewable energy projects that included solar installations, sales of solar products, management of solar charging stations, and rural water access systems. He previously worked as District Project Coordinator for the Network for Youth Development, leading education, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and environmental programs in partnership with the Development Fund of Norway. Charles holds a Master of Science in Management Studies (with credit) from the Malawi School of Government and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Planning from the University of Malawi. He has also earned professional certifications in renewable energy management, project monitoring and evaluation, gender mainstreaming, child protection, and corruption prevention in humanitarian aid. With over nine years of experience across the renewable energy, community development, and youth empowerment sectors, Charles is skilled in project and program management, policy development, capacity building, and partnership development. He thrives in cross-sector, multicultural environments and is committed to advancing sustainable energy access and inclusive development in Malawi. He is married, speaks English and Chichewa, and enjoys contributing to initiatives that combine innovation, sustainability, and community impact.
