Damien is a senior member of the Energy for Development team within the Institute for Energy and Environment at the University of Strathclyde. He has nearly 15 years of experience working across a range of research and knowledge exchange projects in partnership with NGOs, industry, and academic institutions in Scotland and Southeast Africa. The focus of his work is enabling sustainable electricity access for rural, underserved communities via off-grid solar energy systems and renewable energy minigrids. He is passionate about working with local organisations to achieve this, forming multi-disciplinary teams to develop and apply appropriate technical, economic and social innovation. He holds a Masters in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Business Studies from the University of Strathclyde and is the programme manager for the University of Strathclyde’s Global Renewables Centre.
