Dr. Aran Eales is a distinguished expert in the field of sustainable energy with a focus on minigrid systems and rural electrification. Dr. Eales holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, where their groundbreaking research on minigrid business models has significantly contributed to the understanding and implementation of sustainable energy solutions in Africa. As the lead developer of Malawi's first smart metered minigrid, he has pioneered innovative approaches to energy access, integrating advanced metering technology to optimise the performance and reliability of minigrid systems and understand the impact they have on rural communities. Dr Eales is also the Director of Equal Access Energy, an organisation dedicated to promoting equitable energy access in Sub Saharan Africa through providing technical support and investment to deploy scalable and sustainable energy solutions that empower communities and drive socio-economic development.
