Chikuku Katebe is a Renewable Energy Engineer and Programs Coordinator for the Global Renewables Centre (GRC) in Zambia, a programme funded by the Scottish Government through the University of Strathclyde. She leads initiatives that foster knowledge exchange, capacity building, and innovation in renewable energy, with a particular focus on mini-grids, productive use of energy, and sustainable development in rural communities. She serves as the Board Secretary and Executive Director of the Zambia Renewable Energy Association (ZARENA), where she has played a key role in transforming the organisation from a small network into a recognised national voice for renewable energy. Her work has strengthened youth and student engagement, promoted gender inclusion, facilitated stakeholder partnerships, and supported the identification and development of rural energy projects that address both climate change and poverty. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy at The University of Zambia, Chikuku is also a Project Manager with Batoka Innovation and an entrepreneur through her fashion brand, Moneka. Beyond her passion for renewable energy, she has a strong interest in the clothing and fashion industry, where she is committed to promoting entrepreneurship, creativity, and women’s economic empowerment. Chikuku is passionate about strengthening partnerships between Zambia and UK institutions to advance skills development, innovation, and sustainable energy solutions across Africa while championing opportunities for women and young people in both the energy and business sectors.
